Homework September 1 through September 5 |
| Monday, September 1: No School - Labor Day. We will enjoy a day off from the first hectic week of school in order to appreciate the efforts of millions of men and women who work hard every day to give us the lifestyle we enjoy in the United States. |
Tuesday, September 2: Assignment 7, Check-out American Literature Textbook. We will finish our benchmark essay after going to the library to checkout the American Literature textbook in preparation of beginning our unit on transcendentalism next week. |
| Wednesday, September 3: Finish Benchmark 1 Essay-"The Scream." We will finish critically viewing the painting "Do Unto Others ," by Norman Rockwell in order to analyze and evaluate it by writing an essay that is supported by strong examples and explanations in order to determine the level of our writing ability as we begin the new school year. (Writing Standard 2.2: Response to Literature) |
Thursday, September 4: Assignments 8,Evaluate Benchmark Essay 1.We will use the six point UC Subject A Rubric to evaluate the essay we wrote for Benchmark Test 1 where we analyzed the themes and issues in Norman Rockwell's painting "Do Unto Others." (Writing Standard 2.2: Response to Literature) |
Friday, September 5: Assignment 9, Transcendentalism Web Search. We will build the necessary background knowledge to understand Romanticism and Transcendentalism in preparation for studying the writing and philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. (Writing Standard 1.6: Research and Technology) |
